Increase the number of Black engineers who are culturally responsible, academically excellent, professionally successful, and positively impact their communities
Academic success is central to NSBE’s mission. Through our Academic Excellence (AEx) program, we offer monthly study sessions, peer tutoring, and workshops on study habits and time management. These resources ensure our members have the tools to excel academically.
We equip our members with the skills to succeed professionally. Each fall, we host a Career Fair Prep event with workshops on resume building, interview techniques, and career skills. Throughout the year, we also hold info sessions with companies like Johnson & Johnson and Panasonic, offering valuable career insights.
NSBE gives back through the Technical OutReach Community Help (T.O.R.C.H.) program. Every October, we celebrate TORCH Month with events like the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and A Walk for Education. Throughout the year, we also support community efforts, including NJIT’s food pantry, to make a positive local impact.
The Pre-College Initiative (PCI) program aims to inspire the next generation of STEM students. We collaborate with local NSBE Jr. chapters to host in-class sessions on engineering and related fields. We also organize NJIT campus events, offering high school students hands-on engineering experiences.
Best NSBE Chapter.

NSBE has been an incredible support system for me, both academically and professionally. Through the workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities, I've gained skills and confidence that have helped me excel in my studies and prepare for my career. It's more than just an organization—it's a community that empowers you to achieve your goals.

it’s not easy to be the best chapter in the best region but somebody’s gotta carry that burden 🙂↕️

After attending NSBE's resume review and assisting the PR committee, I feel that I've built a better sense of community on campus and I feel much more prepared entering the professional world.
